Variety mainly grown in northwest Spain. A fairly well-rounded variety used in the Ribeiro region for producing young wines, pleasant on the palate with intense primary aromas. Used for making monovarietal and multivarietal wines.
Early budding with a short cycle, it ripens easily and is susceptible to late frosts. It is a highly fertile and productive variety, yielding around 14 - 16 Tn/Ha.
Widely grown and suitable for all areas of the D.O., it is especially apt for places where ripening takes place late. Semi-vertical growth, susceptible to mildew, oidium, botrytis (grey mould) and excoriosis. |
